Illustrator and print-maker
Artist Statement
My artwork is based on an illustrative approach to storytelling. I primarily work with traditional mediums, such as ink, graphite, and gouache, as well as various methods of printmaking. I prefer to work with traditional mediums because I feel it allows my artwork to have more of a classic feel. Much of my inspiration comes from historical events, mythologies and folklore from various cultures, and the artistic styles associated with architecture from various ancient cultures. I also draw inspiration from Golden Age illustrators as well as the artwork from the series Dungeons and Dragons. I prefer to create illustrations with more of a stylized, cartoonish look, similar to artists such as Vernon Grant, Edmond Dulac, and Arthur Rackham. In the future I plan to create artwork with a focus on narrative elements and would like to publish a book of illustrations based on fairytales.
